“Ishural – The Academy of Mages” – A LARP Focused on Diplomacy and PvE

The story of this LARP takes place in a world caught in a Cold War. Three alliances are competing for influence over Ishural and the territory of Arcadia, where a highly valuable mineral has been discovered. Each alliance, and the peoples within them, holds a very different vision of the world, shaped by centuries, or even millennia, of rivalries and conflicts.

The Academy Ball will serve as the setting for court intrigues, while the estate's gardens may conceal secrets and become the source of mysterious threats.

Diplomatic intrigues, conspiracies, games, confrontations, and exploration will all play a part in the adventure.

Despite the more social nature of this LARP, combat and action sequences will still take place, and character death remains a very real possibility.

Should your character die, you may be offered a Non-Player Character (NPC) role, or you may choose to improvise an entirely new character.

Is Ishural the Right LARP for You?

Ishural is a role-playing game designed for a wide audience, welcoming both newcomers and experienced LARP players.

Your choice of alliance or faction should also reflect your preferences in terms of aesthetics and atmosphere.

If you are a beginner, we encourage you to seek advice from the organizing team or your fellow players. Our goal is for everyone to have fun, regardless of their level of experience.

The game encourages players to take on responsibilities within their faction or alliance and to actively participate in shaping the story.

Physical and Emotional Safety

All participants will be required to read and sign a physical and emotional safety agreement during online registration. The organizers reserve the right to refuse any registration without providing justification.

The organizing team will remain highly vigilant regarding inappropriate behavior and will handle any incidents involving participants who fail to treat others with respect and consideration, ensuring a fair and impartial approach.

A designated Safe Zone will be available for anyone experiencing difficulties, providing a space where participants can seek assistance, talk, and receive support.

Please note that this space is available to both Player Characters (PCs) and Non-Player Characters (NPCs).

Rich and Detailed Character Creation

First, you will be asked to choose a playable group when purchasing your ticket (see the Registration section), before creating your character and their backstory.

This process will be guided by a questionnaire designed to introduce you to the lore of Ishural and help you create a character who fits naturally into the game's fictional world.

Next, you will choose your character's skills and abilities by familiarizing yourself with the game rules. This new version of the rules will be available during July 2025 and will allow you to finalize the remaining details of your character.

Your backstory will then be reviewed by the organizers, who will enrich it with additional elements, intrigues, relationships, and quests to integrate your character into the main storyline. They may also suggest corrections or adjustments based on your preferred style of play.

The organizers will use the material you create to design a personalized experience for you. The richer your backstory is (remember, rich does not necessarily mean excessively long), the more inspiration they will have to craft a coherent and engaging adventure tailored to your character.

If you are struggling to find inspiration, don't worry! The organizing team will be happy to help you develop the foundations of your character and will add elements of their own to ensure that you are fully integrated into the game.

The questionnaire will also include a physical and emotional safety agreement, which must be accepted in order to participate in the LARP.
